The Dove House

The Dove House will be a place called home for the healing, hope and help for single moms with 1 or 2 children who are in need of temporary housing, employment assistance and parenting support. Dove House will provide a caring, healthy and value-centered environment that offers social and family service supportive programming that addresses:

  • Self esteem and life skills
  • Healthy parenting skills
  • Educational opportunities
  • Job readiness and employment support
  • Skills development and career counseling

Qualified applicants will be screened, and accepted into Dove House program twice annually: January and July. Each participant will have a customized self improvement plan that includes self-awareness, life skills, parenting, education and job development strategies, that must be completed within a pre-set timeline not to exceed 36 months. Each participant will also complete a healthy eating, cooking, housekeeping, financial literacy, child development, parenting, dating course and will be required to declare and pursue a hobby or interest.

Weekly requirements include

  • Meeting with counselors
  • Strict adherence to self development plan 
  • Meal planning & cooking at least once a week for the families in the Dove House
  • Eating with family at least 5 times a week
  • Engaging in one family activity  
  • Cleaning individual space and general space
  • Attending financial literacy class 

Dove House contributions and donations are 100 percent charitable. These donations further Dove House’s purpose an effort to support those most in needs, such as single moms and their young children.  All participants will be required to ‘give back’ to Dove House upon completion of the program.

Health

100% of food will be provided to Dove House residents. In addition to suggested healthy meals, residents will be equipped with numerous resources to encourage healthy living.

The activities within Dove House will be conducted by licensed and qualified social workers and counselors.

Finance

Financial fitness and freedom is the goal. Residents will be required to attend workshops and training.

Our subsidized rent model is designed to help residents achieve stability after their time at Dove House.

Recreation

Residents will be exposed to several extra-curricular activities and required to declare a recreational activity for which they must remain consistent.

It is important for residents of Dove House to develop socially and creatively as they develop financially and professionally.

Education

All Dove House residents are encouraged to complete any ongoing or incomplete educational development. Depending on the program, Dove House will provide residents with direct access to resources and training to help ensure professional development.

The participants will be given the first 6 months, rent free however if working 40% of salary will be placed into their savings account. The second 6 months, 10% of salary is paid to rent; 30% goes to savings account.  From months 13-18, 20% of the salary is paid to rent and 20% goes to a savings account for the participants. The last 6 months of the participant, 40% of the salary is deposited in savings account.
